Set up your direct deposit and it's mostly a waiting game — your employer or payroll provider takes it from there. Here's what to expect, and what to do if something doesn't look right. Haven't set it up yet? Start with How to set up direct deposit.

When will my paycheck start coming to Tilt?

Your employer or payroll provider makes the change on their end, so it takes 1 to 2 pay cycles. We'll notify you when you get paid.

How do I know it worked?

Your first paycheck landing in your Tilt Checking account is the confirmation. Want to check sooner? Sign in to your payroll account and check your direct deposit settings.

My confirmation disappeared. Did something go wrong?

Nope. That confirmation shows for the session, so it clears when you close the app. Your switch is still on its way to your payroll provider.

I signed in, but the switch didn't go through. Why?

Some employers turn off direct deposit changes in their payroll system. When that's the case, the switch can't go through there, and we can't tell in advance. You can still set this up straight with your employer or payroll team. Use your Tilt routing and account numbers.

My employer isn't listed. What now?

We're always adding payroll providers. In the meantime, you've got 2 other ways to set this up.

Give your employer your account numbers. On the Home tab, tap ⋯ in the Card section, then tap Account. Your account and routing numbers are there.

Or generate a direct deposit form. Tap Account > Direct deposit > Generate direct deposit form. Give the form to your employer.

Use the routing number shown in your Tilt app — not the one on nbkc's website. They're different, and using the wrong one will cause your deposit to fail.

I can't sign in to my payroll account.

That sign-in goes directly to your payroll provider, so we can't see or reset it. Your HR team or payroll provider can get you back in. Once you're in, start the setup again from the Tilt app anytime.

I closed the app partway through. Did anything change?

No. Nothing goes through until you confirm the switch, so your deposit hasn't changed. You can pick it back up whenever you're ready.

Can I send part of my paycheck to Tilt and part somewhere else?

Not right now. Connecting your payroll provider sends your full paycheck to your Tilt Checking account. To split your paycheck, set it up with your employer or payroll team using your Tilt routing and account numbers.

Why do you need my payroll login?

We use it to make the change with your payroll provider directly. No forms, and no account numbers to track down. You enter it yourself — we never see or ask for it.

I get Social Security or SSI. Can I switch my deposit here?

Social Security handles deposit changes directly, so this won't work for benefit payments. Contact the Social Security Administration to change where your benefits go. You'll need your Tilt routing and account numbers, and your account type is Checking.

Who is Pinwheel?

Pinwheel is the company we work with to connect to payroll systems. They handle the connection, so your payroll login never passes through Tilt. You'll see their name when you start the setup, along with links to their terms and privacy policy.
