The MLA covers:
Active duty members of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard
National Guard and Reserve members on active duty for more than 30 consecutive days
Spouses and certain dependents of covered servicemembers
How we check MLA status
Every time someone applies for a Tilt credit product, we verify MLA coverage status through a third-party check. This happens automatically at the time of application — you don't need to do anything to trigger it.
What the MLA means for Tilt credit applications
Federal law limits the terms under which lenders can extend credit to MLA-covered borrowers. Because of this, if you're identified as a covered borrower at the time of your application, we can't approve a new Tilt credit account. Note: MLA applies at the time of application only. If you already have a Tilt account and later become active duty, different protections may apply. See What happens to my account if I'm deployed? for details on SCRA benefits.
If you think your MLA status was flagged in error
MLA coverage is determined by our third-party provider based on Department of Defense records. If you believe your status was flagged incorrectly, here's how to follow up: Contact the Department of Defense (DoD) MLA database directly at militarylending.com to check or correct your status. Once your status is updated in the DoD records, you're welcome to reapply. If you have questions about your application, contact us.
